CHASE DW-R DOWNWIND RACING
OVERVIEW
The DW-R are engineered for pure glide, early lift, and uncompromising efficiency, offering the ideal platform for downwind foilers seeking maximum performance over long ocean runs or flat-water racing.
Designed to meet the unique demands of DW racing foiling, these boards give experienced riders everything they need to link bumps effortlessly and maintain speed with minimal leg & paddle power. With a focus on ultra-light and durable construction, stability, and optimal paddling efficiency, the DW-R boards excel in accelerating onto bumps, providing natural balance and maintaining control in shifting ocean energy.
DESIGN
After extensive prototyping and testing in a wide range of conditions, the DWR range is ready to elevate your downwind SUP foiling. Whether you're charging open-ocean runners, training in light wind, or competing in long-distance DW races, the full Carbon PVC construction is here to maximize your efficiency in every aspect of the ride. The refined DW rocker profile, specific to each volume, and carefully tuned volume distribution make them the ultimate tool for riders seeking for something new, fresh and precise. We recommend to use around 25 to 30 liters above your body weight, in order to unleash the full potential of these weapons.
KEY FEATURES
REDUCED PLANING SURFACE The hull design now features vertical rails that transition to side bevels, gradually increasing towards the tail, creating a more aggressive full V-kick tail. This configuration enhances acceleration and provides excellent release of the tail, thanks to less wet surface. The board maintains effortlessly this mix of planning and bouncing ability during take-off. Its intuitive directional behavior make it easy to adjust trajectory during take-offs.
SMART WIDTH The width has been optimized for downwind racing starts, from seated to standing, offering a perfect balance of stability and flat water performance. While narrower boards excel at speed, this design strikes the sweet spot: narrow enough to perform well in flat water, but wide enough to ensure stability in the chop and swell of ocean racing conditions. This width allows for smoother downwind transitions and reduces the likelihood of instability during more turbulent conditions.
CUTOUT KICK TAIL The extended tail transitions from flat to full V with a kick, optimizing water release during aggressive pumping on takeoff. The full V tail ensures that water flows smoothly off the tail, reducing drag and increasing efficiency. The kick design keeps your tail from “catching” the water, providing a smooth and controlled lift without the nose pushing down.
RAKED DECK RECESS The deck recess features a low rake, offering a optimized angle to push back down the board after bouncing it up, as well useful when pumping in full flight mode. The progressive deck shape provides optimal performance when transitioning from your takeoff stance into riding and carving mode. The design allows you to shift your weight easily, making it simpler to find the perfect position for smooth feet transitions during the ride.
DECK FOOT LOCK The deck recess keeps your front foot securely locked just behind the front bump, preventing any forward slip. This allows you to maintain energy transfer to the board and foil with maximum efficiency, especially during high-speed pumping or when taking off. The foot lock enhances control and stability, making your foil experience more fluid and connected.
VEE-DECK TAIL SHAPE The extra volume on the tail improves stability and compensates for the highly kicked tail, which is essential for bouncing between the water and foil. This volume repartition ensures better pitch control and allows perfect balance even during aggressive maneuvers. The round deck tail shape helps the board breach the water surface effectively during intense paddling and pumping, keeping the board from getting bogged down.
BOTTOM MINI CHANNELS The mini channels of the DWX on the bottom have been removed in favor of a smoother bottom shape that enhances tracking during the early take off phase. The new shape offers improved water flow without locking the board in place, providing greater direction control and efficient speed as you move into flight mode.
FOIL TRACKS RECESS The foil track recess has been optimized for low drag during take off, especially when your mast is positioned towards the front of the track. This design reduces drag and smooths your touchdowns, keeping the board stable and responsive even in sharp turns or while navigating bigger waves. The recess helps the board glide effortlessly when returning to the water, reducing sudden deceleration and maintaining balance in hectic conditions.
PROGRESSIVE ROCKER LINES The rocker line has been tailored for each board size to optimize glide and performance. Smaller sizes feature a more tense rocker that offers excellent acceleration despite shorter length. The larger sizes have a rounder rocker going together with their longer length allowing for smooth behaviour and high-speed control.
CARVING : This new shape provides a balance of performance and control, making it surprisingly good for high-speed maneuvers.
The DW-R SUP Foil Downwind Racing range represents the culmination of extensive R&D, on-water testing, and performance-driven innovation. Every detail — from the progressive rocker and vertical rails to the optimized width and sculpted tail — has been engineered to deliver early glide, intuitive control, and maximum efficiency in every phase of downwind foiling.
